From
the Minister to all citizens
Dear Citizens,
Tip of the Month:
If you live in a place where
residents regularly drink water from
the tap at home, it's likely that
you're familiar with
this scenario: You're in
a restaurant; having ordered
your food and probably, a
glass/bottle of wine. You ask for
water and immediately comes this
question: Gas or No Gas (or en
français: avec le gaz ou sans le gaz)?
Being human, your natural reaction
is likely to be choosing either one,
i.e. you will have a bottle of water
(gaz ou san gaz) brought to you and
added to your bill too.
Did it
ever occur to you that it's rather
dumb that while you drink tap water
at home, in some places healthier
than bottled water, but opt
for ordering water in bottles when
you eat out just because people can
be snobbish and you don't want to
appear stingy? Try this out: If you
are somewhere near a water source
(say you are in Geneva and there is
Lake Leman, Paris - Siene, London -
the Thames etc), when you're asked:
gaz ou san gaz? Simply say: From the
lake please, or from the Thames
please. In most cases you're likely
to get a friendly smile and a jar of
tap water, for free of course.
Your
minister of laughter, Estherita
